From Rice to Sustainability: A Taiwan Pilot for Regenerative Farming and Finance

· News

🌏 Situated in the Tao Yuan district near Taipei, Taiwan, a one-hectare plot of rice fields will serve as the platform for a pioneering pilot project. Leveraging this site, our team—having conducted recent field surveys and deep stakeholder engagements—is launching an initiative that embodies the principles of Regenerative Farming and Sustainable Financing.

🌱 This initiative demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing ESG principles and addresses two critical planetary imperatives: Strengthening Natural Capital to combat nature loss while maintaining agricultural production for global food security.

🌾These benefits will be delivered through novel cooperation mechanisms—facilitated by NCU.fi—that will offer the agricultural sector a viable pathway to balance natural capital enhancement with farm productivity. Scientifically supported, this pilot will pioneer sustainable rice farming practices, focusing on two pivotal interventions:

  • Integrating productive forest habitats into farming landscapes to enhance biodiversity while ensuring economic productivity—a delicate balance essential for long-term viability.
  • Adopting regenerative farming approaches to improve soil and water health, alongside gains in biodiversity performance, within agriculturally productive land—thus fortifying the ecosystem's resilience and richness.
